I'm currently reading the book Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver. The book has been very enjoyable and I've learned a lot. The other day I was reading a chapter about the sickness and death of Lazerus. When I read the passage in the Bible the following verses really struck me:

Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazerus.

So, when He heard that he was sick,
He stayed two more days in the place where He was.

John 11:5-6

Jesus loved this family and yet when He heard that His friend was sick, He waited two days before He went to see Him. In that time Lazerus died. Both sisters questioned Jesus on why He waited to come because if He had been there He could have healed Lazerus. This would have been the sisters immediate solution to the problem, but Jesus had the bigger picture in mind. He always does! I know I am always guilty of thinking that I know the best solution to the problem and then get frustrated because it didn't work out the way I thought it should. It is comforting to know that despite my short comings, God continues to focus on the big picture and work all things together for our good.
