Emily and I went to a Pastor's Wives Retreat last weekend. It was wonderful. This was one of the songs sung as special music. I hope it encourages you like it encouraged me!
May the true reason for today's celebration be on your mind and heart today!
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3
Since we're still in LP we went to my parents church today. It was such an encouragement. All throughout the morning I was reminded of the sweet connection that exists within the body of Christ. Some people I knew from growing up in that church, but many were strangers and yet we were there for a common purpose. JESUS! We were opening the Word together and discussing it during Sunday School and in the service we were singing praise, praying together, and rejoicing in what God did through the Nicaragua Missions Team. This common connection is because it is well with our souls all because of the basic truth that Graham shared with his Sunday School class, "Jesus lives in our hearts and died on the cross for us." May it be well for your soul too!
Our church started 2011 out with a week of prayer. Groups met at 7, 12, and 6:30 Monday through Friday. Had we gone to FL we would have missed this. I'm so glad were able to participate. I was greatly encouraged to see people come each day and together bring our concerns for our families, church, work and neighbors, leadership, and personal growth before the Lord. The week finished with a wonderful worship service. I felt so much closer to my church family, knowing that many of us sought God for the same things and desire to see a movement of Him begin in our little area of the world. The Spirit was certainly present. My prayer was and is for 2011 to be a year we can look back on as when God started something that only He could do.
This was the song that Anthony picked for the Praise Team to sing and it was a perfect prayer to end the week. Do it Lord, do it Lord, we are praying!!
It's been great having Graham in the service with us because he comes home singing the songs. Today he rode home with Anthony and asked what hosanna meant. The question led the two to have a discussion about salvation. We pray everyday for he and Reed to be saved and praise God for softening his heart already!
Hosanna (Praise is Rising) by Paul Baloche and Brenton Brown
Praise is rising, eyes are turning to you We turn to you
Hope is stirring, hearts are yearning for you We long for you
When we see you we find strength to face the day In your presence all our fears are washed away, washed away
Hosanna, hosanna You are the God who saves us, worthy of all our praises Hosanna, hosanna Come have your way among us We welcome you here Lord Jesus
Hear the sound of hearts returning to you We turn to you In your kingdom broken lives are made new you make all things new
