God's Promise in the Blood and Water

Chapter 11
I Have Redeemed You and I Will Keep You

The blood is God's sacrifice for us.

The water is God's Spirit in us.

And we need both. John is very concerned that we know this. It's not enough to know what came forth; we must know how they came forth: "At once blood and water came out" (John 19:34). John doesn't emphasize one over the other. But, oh, how we do.

Some accept the blood but forget the water. They want to be saved but don't want to be changed.

Others accept the water but forget the blood. They are busy for Christ but never at peace in Christ.

What about you? Do you tend to lean one way or the other?
